XP Pro: Using Remote Desktop

You can access another PC over your network by using the "Remote Desktop" utility
included in Windows XP Pro and control it like you where there in person

Right click "My Computer" and select "Properties"

Select the "Remote" tab
Now you need to allow others to connect to your PC using "Remote Desktop"
Wing "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer"
Press the "OK" button

In case you didnt read this dialog box it says you can only connect to accounts that have passwords

If you need to make a new user or password protect your current user,
do it by using the "User Accounts" in your "Control Panel"

Now its time to connect to the other PC you just configured

You can find "Remote Desktop" in:
START > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop Connection
or
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mstsc.exe

Type in the computer name of the PC you want to connect to
You can also press the "Options >>" button

Here you can choose the different setting for you remote connection

A nice option is to save the settings you just selected and place it on the desktop for easy access to the remote computer

When/if you saved your rdp file press Connect

You might get promted for your password but after that you should see the Remote Desktop

The only two things you cannot do using the Remote connection is:
Pressing Ctrl - Alt - Delete to access the "Task Manager" and
Turning the Remote PC on

You can access the "Task Manager" another way:
Right click on the taskbar and select "Task Manager"

Here you can: turn off, restart, log off and disconnect the remote computer
